The pilot

Kept is an SMS follow-through tool in a limited pilot. It records a commitment, sends scheduled nudges, and applies specific text commands. While signup is open, the website's Text me button requests a drafted START text to the pilot number; some devices may fill only the number. Opening Messages changes nothing. Sending START creates the active account, records the inbound consent evidence, and queues the welcome reply.

Eligibility and consent

The pilot is intended for adults. The disclosure next to Text me asks the person sending START to confirm they are 18 or older and agree to recurring automated texts. The software records the inbound START and disclosure version, but it does not independently verify age. The backup invitation separately asks its recipient to reply YES (18+). Do not add someone as a backup without their agreement.

Safety boundary

Kept is not an emergency, crisis, medical, legal, or safety-monitoring service. Delivery can be delayed or fail. Do not rely on a reminder or went-quiet notice for urgent help. In the US, call or text 988 for crisis support, or call 911 for an emergency.

SMS Terms

Kept sends recurring automated texts about the commitments you text in: a confirmation when one is set, reminders at the times you choose, and replies to the commands you send. You opt in by texting START to the Kept number.

Message frequency varies with what you schedule and how you reply. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Backup people

A backup receives an invitation first. If they reply YES, they may later receive a went-quiet notice under the pilot rules. That notice does not identify the commitment. Either side can pause or end the relationship.
